Lots of updates coming your way! Please be aware of the upcoming dates/events and, as always, please let me know if you have any questions!

Boosterthon & Field Day

The PTA has decided to host the Boosterthon Fun Run this year as a way to raise fund that will be put back into the school. The following is a schedule of those events for Track 1, as well as Field Day this year, that will happen in conjunction with the Fun Run. Please make sure your child comes dressed appropriately for LOTS of activity on March 6!

Monday, 3/2 – Track 1 - Fun Run Pep Rally

Tuesday, 3/3 – Thursday, 3/5 – Daily Team Huddles during Specials

Friday, 3/6 – Track 1 Fun Run @ 10:00-11:00; Field Day 1:00 – 2:00

Peter Pan Movie Day

Due to Field Day being scheduled on March 6th, we've decided to switch our Peter Pan movie day to Thursday, March 5th.

Election Day

On Tuesday, March 3, elections will be taking place on the MES Campus. Lunch will be in classrooms. Please no visitors on this day. Thank you!

Track Out

An addition, if you'd like a track out packet for your child to work on during the month of March, I'll be posting that onto the bottom of the Resource page in the next few days. It will include content from this past quarter as well as multiplication practice as we should be close to mastery at this point in the year.

SSA Test Request Window

Hello Track 1 Parents!

Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) information can be found on the WCPSS website at https://www.wcpss.net/Page/3799. You may also learn more about Single Subject Acceleration by viewing this SSA Parent Information Meeting video and reviewing the Parent FAQs - Single Subject Acceleration for SSA document.

The test request window for Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) for Track 1 opens soon and test request forms will be accepted beginning Monday, February 24th through the end of the school day on Friday, February 28th at 4:15 p.m. for students enrolled at Morrisville Elementary on Track 1 in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

This year's SSA Test Request form is three pages long. The first two pages contain information for parents.  Only the last page needs to be completed and returned during the test request window. ALL Track 1 SSA Test Request forms must be turned in no later than 4:15 p.m. on Friday, February 28th. No late test request forms will be accepted.

Is your child a good candidate for Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)?

  • Consider your child’s social and emotional maturity. Your child will be taking classes with peers who may be older or they will be working on their own.

  • Consider your child’s organizational skills and ability to focus.

  • Your child will be skipping an entire year’s worth of content and background knowledge.

  • The AIG teacher and homeroom teachers are not responsible for covering any content your child skipped as a result of receiving SSA services.

  • If your child qualifies for SSA in math or ELA in elementary or middle school, some courses take place online. During the school day, students participate independently in these online courses.

  • SSA may result in a different class schedule. To accommodate your child's academic needs, the school may assign your child a nontraditional schedule. The final decision about scheduling will be made by the principal at each school. Morrisville Elementary your child will likely have to go to lunch, recess, and/or Specials with another grade level in order to accommodate their SSA Math or Reading class schedule.

If you have any questions about SSA or the test request process, please feel free to contact Mrs. Heir, the SSA Contact at Morrisville Elementary, at cheir@wcpss.net.

Thank you,

Christina Heir
