We made it through the majority of the sick season and we're moving into warmer weather and approaching spring fever! I can't believe we're almost 75% of the way through this year. Time truly does fly when you're having fun. There aren't any major announcements, but please read on to find out about upcoming events at school and in the classroom that are helpful to know about.
Valentines Day
Valentine's Day is this coming Friday, the 14th. Please see the Class Dojo graphic for a list of student names or let me know if you need a printed out version. We'll spend a little bit of time celebrating each other that day and exchanging valentine cards!
Club Pictures
Club photos will be taken this Friday, February 7th for Track 1. Photos will be taken before school from 8:45 - 9:15 am. Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:45 am. Photos will be taken in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Boosterthon
Boosterthon starts in March! So what is this? It is a fundraiser during which our students will gather pledges for participating in a Fun Run. During this program students will be involved in a pep rally, watch videos that teach character traits, and celebrate their success at a Fun Run and MES Field Day. Track 1 will begin participating on March 2nd and our Fun Run will be on Friday, March 6. We are looking forward to a successful fundraiser and thank you in advance for your support!

MES STEM Night
Make sure to mark your calendars for MES STEM Night on Thursday, March 5 from 6-8pm! Join us for presentations and activities from lots of great science, technology, engineering and mathematics organizations from our local community, including Zaniac, Code Ninjas, The Art of STEM, Duke University, Techsplorers, Green Hope High School Robotics Club, and more. This is a popular, engaging event that the kids love! The JAM Ice Cream truck will be on site for a yummy dessert option! Don't miss this fun night!
We are also looking for a couple of parent volunteers to take over the coordination of this great event for the 2020-2021 school year, as the families of the current chairs, Ashley Barry and Jill Hughes, graduate from MES this year! We have a great contact list of groups to share with whoever takes over, and will absolutely show you the ropes of how we've coordinated this event over the past few years. New ideas are welcome as well! Please reach out to Ashley (ashleypbarry@gmail.com) or Jill (jillfhughes@gmail.com) directly if you are interested!
